Intel Xeon E5-2640 v3 vs AMD EPYC 3251

The AMD EPYC 3251 is newer than Intel Xeon E5-2640 v3 @ 2.60GHz and is around 24% faster in multi-threaded (CPU Mark) testing. However the CPUs have comparable single-thread rating. Also, AMD EPYC 3251 uses substantially less power. All the CPUs in this comparison belong in the Server CPU Class. The values below were tabulated from a combined 573 benchmarks submitted from our PerformanceTest software and results and are updated daily to include new submissions.
